SEO – is it dying ?

Google had done many updates in their search results recently. Many animals like Panda, Penguin etc came already and shown us how can they attack us. Still there will be more animals to come across in future. Many people believe that SEO is dead. Is it true?

People have different opinion about it. Some says, SEO is dead, some says not. And a few says, “No clue exactly, it’s all up to Google”.

When it was back in 90s, SEO was all about back links. Websites that hired good SEO experts ranked top in the search result pages. Google Panda update was against low-quality web content and penguin is against web spam.  Both of these updates changed the way SEOs work, its practices and other myths.

Many giant websites, which had great bulk back-links, had penalized by Google by reducing traffic to almost 50%. SEO expert across the globe are in a busy discussion about how can we overcome this situations. Many myths about SEO started evolving. A few people fears that SEO is no more going to exist.

>From my opinion, SEO is not dead, it’s just reformed. The tactics and the way we had optimized websites became a history. Those back link practices became obsolete. Let’s call it as SEO 1.0.

SEO 1.0 evolved to SEO 2.0, where the tactics, practices, concepts changes….

Below are some of the techniques/practices that are not going to help in SEO:

1)     Keyword Stuffing

2)     Spun Content

3)     Unnecessary low quality web pages

4)     Content to Ad ratio

5)     Quantity Back links

6)     Link Exchanges

7)     Paid Links

8)     Link farms

9)     Link Wheels

10) Bombing

SEO 2.0:

It’s all about the content and its marketing. Search engine values more about the quality and uniqueness of the web content. Hence manipulated low quality content lost the importance in terms of search engine.

Below are the areas that search engines care about:

1)     Quality Content

2)     Website Design

3)     Social Reach (social discussions, popularity etc)

4)     Website Performance (Traffic, bounce rate etc)

5)     Webpage Quality and its relevancy

Since, the basic SEO parameters have changed from back links to content quality and other things, SEOs need to adapt the new changes and hence need to find the procedure on how effectively can optimize the websites to bring it into top search result pages. Surely, the back link concept is existing, but the importance of it has downgraded.

Once we adapt to the new parameters, it’s very easy to optimize.  Google does not hate SEO, but it brings SEOs into a new direction, the right direction!!
